Coking Coal Imports into India Rise 6% in May’16

Coking coal imports into India had gone up by around 6% during May’16, mainly due to the coal variant getting cheaper in the overseas markets.

During May’16, India imported 4.23 MnT of coking coal which was higher than the imports of 3.99 MnT in Apr’16, according to data compiled by SteelMint Research.

Australia continued to be the top exporting nation during the month under review with an export of around 3.35 MnT.

Amongst the various ports in India, the Mormugao port had handled the highest quantity of imports, at 934.05 TMT, during May’16;  followed by the Paradip port, at 809.6 TMT.
