On a year-on-year comparison, the Oct’17 imports were, however, higher by around 10.67% against the imports of 4.03 MnT in the corresponding month of the last year.
There was no major deviation in the imports during the month due to the constant steel making in the country that necessitated steady volume of imports.
A break-up of the countries of import shows that the imports of the coal from main importing country—Australia—was lower but the imports increased from other regions—USA and Russia—as the prices in Australia were considerably higher during the month under review.
