Coking Coal imports in India dipped slightly by 0.5% in Apr’17 over the imports in Mar’17, according to CoalMint Research.
During Apr’17, 3.82 MnT of Coking Coal was imported in India. The import volume during the month did not deviate significantly over the imports of 3.84 MnT in Mar’17.

Compared with the same month of the previous year, the imports in Apr’17 had decreased by 4.2%. In Apr’16, 3.99 MnT of Coking Coal was imported into the country.
Interestingly, the import volume during Apr’17 did not deviate significantly despite occurrence of the Debbie cyclone. A break-up of the country-wise imports during the month reveals that although the imports from Australia decreased by 572 ‘000MT, imports from other countries were higher to make up the reduction from Australia.

In Apr’17, the Mormugao port had handled the highest volume of the imports; followed by the Paradip and Dhamra ports.
