Coking Coal Import Offers Fail to Undergo Major Increment in Absence of Stronger Demand

Coking coal import offers did not undergo any major change as demand was not stronger to impact upon the prices.

Imports of the coal variant from Australia by Chinese and Indian buyers remained moderate, according to inputs received.

The latest import offers of the Premium HCC were assessed at USD 94/MT FoB Australia; and that of HCC 64 Mid Vol were assessed at USD 87/MT FoB Australia.

For Indian buyers, these import offers amount to: USD 103/MT CFR India and USD 96/MT CFR India respectively.

While, the import offer for Premium HCC underwent an increment of USD3/MT from that in the last week; that for HCC 64 Mid Vol remained unchanged.

IMPORTS

During Jun’16, 4,351,315 MT of Coking coal was imported into India, according to SteelMint Research. The volume is 2.7% higher than in the previous month, SteelMint Research shows.
