Coking Coal import offer graph has shown a downward trend as improving supply lowered spot prices.
Import offers for the Premium HCC were assessed lower this week at around USD 258.65/MT CFR India. Likewise, import offers for the 64 Mid Vol HCC also were assessed lower at around USD 225.50/MT CFR India.
The export offers of the Coking Coal variants were at: USD 248.50/MT and USD 215.35/MT respectively on FoB Australia basis.

Nevertheless, demand for Coking Coal in India is on the rise. And, the country is inadequate in domestic supply. According to a recent forecast, consumption of the coal is expected to rise to around 75 MnT by 2020 from the current level of approximately 44.7 MnT.
IMPORTS
Coking Coal imports have continued to enter into India. According to the latest data compiled by CoalMint Research, around 2.7 MnT of Coking Coal was imported into India during the 1-19Dec’16 period.
