Coking Coal prices have remained at highs in the international markets as supply tightness continued to persist.
As the consequence of persistence of severe supply tightness, import offers of the coal variants have risen further.
The latest import offers of the Premium HCC were assessed further upwards at USD 237/MT CFR India. Likewise, import offers of the 64 Mid Vol HCC also have gone further up to USD 235/MT CFR India.
Australian suppliers have offered the materials at: USD 226/MT and USD 222/MT respectively on FoB basis.

However, there were indications of supply in the Queensland region to undergo some improvement in the near term, according to a reputed market participant in Australia. Also, there is prospect of around 3 MT of Coking Coal supply coming up in the Whitehaven mine, situated at the New South Wales region of Australia, the market participant further said.
IMPORTS
Active steel making in India has necessitated constant imports of the material. According to the data compiled by CoalMint Research, 2.48 MnT of Coking Coal was imported during the first 20 days of Sep’16.
