Coal Ministry Earmarks 8 Mines for Allotment

Indian coal ministry has identified 8 coal mines for allotment under the provisions of the Coal Mines (Special Provision) Act, 2015.

The Coal Mines (Special Provision) Act, issues the right to the Indian government in order to direct the Nominated Authority regarding the manner of allocation of the coal mines.

Accordingly, the concerned authority has listed 8 mines to be allotted in pursuance of the act. Among the 8 mines, 6 coal mines are to be allotted to the Power producers for their own consumption, while the remaining 2 coal mines are earmarked for State Government Company or Corporation for sale of coal.

The 8 coal mines belong to Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Detailed list of the mines are listed below.

Under the provisions of the said Coal Mines (Special Provision) Act, 89 coal mines have so far been successfully allocated. Of these 89 coal mines, 31 have been allocated through e-auction and 58 have been allotted to Government Companies.
