Coal Ministry Allocates Deocha Pachami Coal Block to West Bengal

Coal Ministry has entered into an allotment agreement with the West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) regarding the Deocha Pachami-Dewanganj Harinsingha coal block.

The allotment was concluded in accordance with the provisions of Coal Block Allocation Rules, made under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulations) Act, 1957.

The coal block located in the state of West Bengal has estimated reserves of 2,102 MnT. The allotment is envisaged to address the immediate as well as the forthcoming coal and power requirements of the region.

WBPDCL is the state electricity board in West Bengal having an installed coal fired power plant capacity of 4740 MW. The company has previously been allocated Pachwara North, Barjora (North), Tara (East and West), Gangaramchak & Gangaramchak Bhadulia, Barjora and Kasta East coal blocks by the ministry.
