>> After the New Year holidays getting over in Australia, all is not well there. More than 200 workers at the Port Kembla Coal Terminal picketed, calling on the board of directors to sack the manager, who had locked some workers and replaced them with external labor. The terminal is owned by–Glencore, South32, Peabody Energy, Centennial Coal and Wollongong Coal.
>> The Chairman of the state-run Coal India Limited has assured adequate availability of coal to the Indian Captive Power Producers Association in a recent interaction. In the country, around 30,000 MW out of 40,000 MW of captive power is coal-based.
>>The HBA, Indonesia’s benchmark coal price, for Jan’18 has gone up by 10.8% to USD 95.54/MT FoB on month-on-month.
