>>Demand for Thermal Coal in India will grow at 4% annually upto 2022, according to a leading think-tank. Imports of the coal in the country will also slow down due to the increasing domestic production, the think-tank said. However, imports of Coking Coal are projected to rise by 5% on yearly basis due to the domestic inadequacy.
>> Coal imports in Poland are expected to go up in 2017 due to the shrinkage in domestic production. PGG, the largest coal miner in that country, will produce 30 MnT of coal during the year against the target of 32 MnT. The fall in the domestic production will be due to technical issues, as attributed by the company.
>> Cement companies in India are learnt to be banking upon Petcoke usage after the Supreme Court relaxing its ban on Petcoke usage. The companies are leant to be least interested in using imported coal as the GCV of Petcoke is more than that for the imported coal. Normally, GCV of Petcoke lies within 7,500-8,500 Kcal, while that for imported coal lies within 5,000-6,000 KCal.
