>> India’s state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned a 54 MW coal-fired captive power plant in Indonesia. The plant, located at Sangatta in East Kalimantan of that country, was set-up by BHEL for PT Citra KusumaPerdana. Among its overseas projects, BHEL is also currently involved in setting up the 2 x 660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power project in Bangladesh.
>>Coal exports from the US are expected to total 89 MnT in 2017, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).The exports during the year will be higher by 48% over the imports in 2016. For 2017, Coking Coal exports are expected to total 53.7 MnT against 40.9 MnT in the previous year; while, Thermal Coal exports are expected to total 35.3 MnT over 19.3 MnT in 2016.
>>Mumbai-headquartered Mercator Limited’s coal mine at the Kalimantan Province of Indonesia has been shut since 15 Oct’17 as the local partners of the mining company dragged the Indian firm to court over a dispute involving the shareholding pattern.
