Coal Market Snapshots

>> South32 has finalized exiting its Thermal Coal business in South Africa. The exit is governed by the political friction arising from the mining industry currently fighting over the terms of a new mining charter enacted by the South African government. However, the company will continue to hold its Manganese and Alumina assets in that country.

>> Several Indonesian coal companies are trying to acquire more coal assets in that country as they see demand for the coal rising substantially in 2018.

>>Indian Thermal Power plants are likely to get tighter emission norms by Dec’17. According to studies, the power sector contributes 60% of the particulate matter into the atmosphere.
