TECK RESOURCES INTERESTED IN INDIAN MARKET
Canada-based coal mining major—Teck Resources—has expressed interest in exporting Coking Coal to India, where demand for the coal is on a rising path. Recently, a team of Indian delegates met the officials of the coal mining company to discuss upon striking deals in view of the occasional supply disruptions that occur in the Australian market.
As a matter of fact, India needs around 56-57 MnT of Coking Coal every year, and out of the requirement around 85% is imported.
GOA TO LOWER COAL IMPORTS
The Goa Chief Minister has recently said that coal handling will be lowered in the state in view of the coal dust pollution emanated. The Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Private Limited and South West Port Limited, which are coal import terminals, were asked to lower coal imports by 25%.
