Coal Stocks Dwindle in Maharashtra Power Plants
In a reversal of a recent trend, thermal power plants in the Maharashtra state are running out of coal stocks, as coal companies have not supplied coal in accordance to the contracts in place. According to the information received, in the 6,000 MW Butibori plant of Reliance Energy Limited, 1,000 MW Mauda plant of NTPC, and 600 MW Warora plant of GMR; only coal stocks for two days are left. In the 1,980 MW Koradi plant of Mahagenco, only three days of coal stocks are left. In the 3,130 MW Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station of Mahagenco and 3,300 MW Tiroda plant Adani Power Limted; coal stocks for four days are left.
Adani to Begin Carmichael coal project in Oct’17
India’s Adani Enterprise plans to begin work in Oct this year to build the controversial Carmichael coal project in Australia. The company plans to make its first shipment in Mar’20. The project has been delayed for years on account of protests by indigenous groups on climatic concerns.
