Coal loading at South East Central Railways falls in Sept

A sharp drop in coal loading was
seen in September caused by heavy rains flooding the collieries, the consequent
drop in coal production and the most important being the road transportation
issue between pitheads to railheads.

Coal accounts for nearly 75 per
cent of South East Central Railway SECR' total freight traffic and its loading
was particularly bad in September.

The daily average at IB Valley
under Mahanadi coalfields was 18.9 rakes as against 23.7 rakes in September
last year.

The corresponding figures for
Korba and Central India coalfields, both under South East Central Coalfields
Ltd, too were also less than satisfactory at 27.7 (28.9) rakes and 12.1 (14.3 )
rakes respectively.
