CIS billet prices move up on improved Turkish buying

Market sentiment is getting better for the CIS billet
exporters, and most of them are slightly optimistic about the next quarter.

“The recent buying activity from Turkey had a very positive
effect, we have already gained $10-15/MT in some sales,” said a major Ukrainian
exporter.

From the concluded levels of $560/MT FOB Black Sea ten days
ago, Ukrainian billet is now offered at $580/MT fob Black Sea, and was sold at
$575/MT fob Black Sea, from end-December casting, a source close to Metinvest
says.

With no apparent plans to increase output in January,
Metinvest had around 70,000 MT of billet to sell in December, and is starting to
take orders for January casting, the source added.
