CIL’s monthly coal production has increased by 8% in Dec’16, compared to last month. While, yearly coal production recorded a growth of 4% compared with Dec’15.
Coal India Limited, the world’s largest coal miner, has reported a significant growth in its Dec’16 coal production which stood at 54.2 MnT during the month. Also recorded a sharp jump and hit the highest of last 8 months in FY17.
Coal India noted a significant growth of 8 % on monthly basis. While yearly production rose by 4% during the month. In view of estimated target, CIL has achieved only 96% of his assigned target which was 56.7 MnT set for the month. And again fails to achieve its monthly target by 4% in Dec’16.

It is noted that out of the total 8 subsidiaries of CIL, all subsidiaries performed below the target level during the month. SECL and MCL, two highest producing subsidiaries of CIL, has produced highest quantity about 13.7 MnT and 12.4 MnT coal in the month.
CIL’s Offtake target achieved by 98% in Dec’16
CIL coal dispatch achieved more than targeted for the month about 98% to 51.5 MnT. The company’s offtake recorded a growth of 0.9 MnT in Dec’16 which was targeted 52.4 MnT.

CIL’s Performance in FY17
Since the beginning of FY17, the company could not achieve its production target every month. In first nine months of FY17 the company had produced about 377.5 MnT coal and recorded the highest coal production quantity in Dec’16. CIL has set a coal production target of 598.61 MnT for FY17.
