CIL will commence the second phase of coal linkage auction to the non-regulated sectors.
Coal India Ltd, a Maharatna Company conferred by Government of India, will shortly begin coal linkage auction for non-regulated sectors from 17 January’17. The non-regulated sectors comprise of: sponge iron, cement, steel and others.
For the auction, CIL will put 14.5 MnT of coal on the offer; out of which 5 MnT will be offered to the sponge iron sector alone.
As a matter of fact, the government has adopted the auction route for allocating coal linkages to the non-regulated sectors to maintain transparency and at the same time ensure adequate availability.
In the first phase of coal auction to the non-regulated sectors, 22 MnT coal was auctioned.
