Coal India Limited (CIL) has postponed the auction of coal linkages to the sponge iron consumers in India to 10 Jun’16 from 31 May’16.
The postponement was decided upon the response received during the pre-bid meeting on 29 May’16.
The re-scheduled timeline will be published shortly, as learnt. In the meantime, prospective bidders can continue registering themselves on the MSTC website.
The coal linkage auction will be the first auction of coal to the non-regulated sector. A quantity of 2 MnT has been allocated for the auction.
Aimed at ensuring fuel availability to the non-regulated consumers, the Coal Ministry has decided to conduct auctions of coal linkages periodically. Consumers, like cement, steel, sponge iron and aluminum, among others come within the ambit of the non-regulated sector. CIL has earmarked a quantity of 23.25 MnT for the auction to the non-regulated sector during the current fiscal.
