Coal India Ltd (CIL) may introduce a system wherein
non-linked and non-captive block holders will have a separate quota for lifting
at least some quantity of coal, a senior official of CIL said while responding
to a suggestion made during an interactive session organized by Confederation
of Indian Industry (CII) on January 21.
“Practically it will be very difficult. But I agree on
principle. Yes, those who do not have linkages or captive blocks get some assured
quantity from E-auction. Quota for non-linkage holders separately will be
practically very difficult to implement because even the linkage holders can
book the e-auction coal in somebody’s name,” the official said.
“But we have to do a more detailed thinking on how it can be
done. We will have to think along how we can offer some assured quantity,” the
official added.
