CIL Completely Gives Up Coal Mining Plan in Mozambique

Coal India Limited (CIL) has eventually given up its quest for entering into the Mozambique coal market.

In a recent development, CIL has submitted an application to the National Institute of Mines of Mozambique intimating the authority of surrendering the prospecting licences, which were issued to its wholly-owned subsidiary– Coal India Africana Limitada (CIAL).

The surrender of the licences was decided as commercial mining will not be feasible in the areas covered under the licences.

However, respose of the Mozambique government is awaited.
