CIL Achieves 96% of its Production Target in Nov’15

Coal India Limited (CIL) fell short of goal by 4% for the month. However, production has increased by 7% M-o-M.

According to latest release, largest Indian coal producer, Coal India has produced 47.4 MnT of coal in Nov’15 against targeted 49.6 MnT. And, the company has also missed its off-take target by 2% for the month.
Amid huge annual Indian coal demand of about 910 MnT for FY16, CIL has missed its production target by about 4% for Nov’16 – the 7th time in a row.

ECL has emerged as the star performer for the month among all eight subsidiaries of CIL; achieving production target by 101%. Coal India’s subsidiary has produced 3.85 MnT of coal against targeted 3.82 MnT for the month.

According to a release by Indian Coal Ministry, annual coal demand for FY16 has grown up to 910 MnT. Centre has planned about 550 MnT of coal production from CIL and about 150 MnT from SCCL including other captive blocks.
On the flip side, Centre has also planned about 210 MnT coal from import by fuel starved sectors including both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
