Chinese plate export offers dropped down drastically by USD 25-30/MT on account of lackluster demand from overseas buyers. Rapid decline in China’s domestic plate prices has spread passive sentiments in the global market
Current plate export offers are assessed in the range of USD 420-430/MT, FoB China. Last week the offers were heard in the range of USD 450-455/MT on FoB basis.
Meanwhile prices of plates in domestic market are heard to be in the range of RMB 3,200-3,220/MT which is equivalent to USD 465-468/MT, including VAT & other taxes.
Market participants have anticipated prices will shrink further on account of volatile sentiments coupled with gloomy demand from overseas buyers. Chinese mills have kept the scope of bargaining for USD 10/MT as the further downfall can bring the plate prices at par with cost levels.
India: Plate Prices Unchanged On Passive Demand

Current prices of commercial grade plate are hovering in the range of INR 37,000-37,500/MT(ex-mill). Prices are exclusive of Excise duty of 12.5%.
In major markets prices of plates are seen at INR 41,500/MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 42,000/MT (ex-Mumbai). Prices are inclusive of Excise duty of 12.5%.
However,plate export offers have decline by USD 10/MT and were heard in the range of USD 485-490/MT, FoB India.Last week the same was stood at USD 490-515/MT on Fob basis.
