China’s Steel Imports increased by 12.5% in Jan-Aug CY’21

China’s steel imports increased by 12.5% in Jan-Aug’21 to 9.22 million tonnes (mn t). In the first 8 months of CY’21, China’s steel imports from Japan reached 3.14 mn t, South Korea 2.18 mn t, Malaysia 1.29 mn t Taiwan 0.95, Indonesia 0.54 and Germany 0.35. It is to be noted that China imported 20.23 mn t steel in CY’20, up 6.4% y-o-y.
