China’s shipbuilding completion volumes drop over 10%, y-o-y, in Jan-Jun’22

According to data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the shipbuilding completion volume in Jan-Jun’22 was 18.5 million deadweight tonnes (dwt), a decrease of 11.6% y-o-y. New shipbuilding orders received were at 22.46 million dwt, down 41.3% y-o-y. In Jan-Jun, China’s shipbuilding completions, new orders and hand-held orders accounted for 45.2%, 50.8% and 47.8% of the world’s total in dwt terms.
