China which is the largest steel producing country in the world is expected to consume around 1,025 mn t of steel in the calendar year 2021, as per the World Steel Association (worldsteel). Upon taking a look at the country’s sector-wise steel usage, China’s construction sector is the biggest steel using sector with a share of 53.50%. The machinery sector is the second largest steel using sector with 22.60%. Automobile sectors usage is 5.70% and energy sector usage is 4.50%.
