China’s coal and coke production witness mixed trends in Aug’25

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s production of industrial raw coal above designated size stood at 390 million tonnes (mnt) in Aug’25, down by 3.2% y-o-y, where daily average output was 12.6 mnt. Jan-Aug coal output stood at 3.17 billion tonnes, up 2.8% y-o-y. China’s coke production hit 42.6 mnt in Aug, up 3.9% y-o-y, totalling 334.06 mnt in Jan-Aug, also up 2.8% y-o-y.
