China is set to tighten coal mining safety management with new regulations effective from May 2024, aiming to reduce accidents and illegal production activities. January 2024 alone witnessed 14 coal mining-related accidents. The regulations will enhance inspections, increase fines for safety violations, and impose stricter penalties, including temporary suspensions and potential shutdowns for mines without proper permits or safety conditions.
