China to set up new standards for steel scrap imports

China will set up new standards for steel scrap imports, an industry group has said, amid global uncertainty over Beijing’s plan to ban all solid waste imports by the end of 2020. While scrap metals are considered solid waste in China, exceptions have been made for high-grade copper and aluminum. However, it remains unclear whether steel scrap will still be allowed to be imported.
