China to add 20 mnt coal capacity in Inner Mongolia in 2022

China is planning to add 20 mnt of coal capacity this year in Inner Mongolia, one of the largest coal producing provinces. The objective is to increase supply and boost domestic output to reduce dependence on imported coal. In this regard, a new mine of 4 mnt annual capacity in Dongping, Inner Mongolia was given approval by China’s energy bureau.
