China’s Tangshan Govt Plans to Curb Steel Production to Improve Air Quality – Sources

Tangshan government may roll out new restrictive measures on steel production to ensure quality air, as its recent air rating once again fell down on the air quality monitoring list, sources reported to SteelMint.

As per sources, this may impact those steel mills within 25 km radius from the downtown area. Till now, some mills confirmed receiving oral notice however, it has not been notified formally.

A source from steel mill from Zunhua area said they have not received such notice but there is production limit every month and such limit will ramp up during heavy polluting days, Steelmint sources reported.

Chinese crude steel output increased by 8% to 996.34 MnT in CY’19 as against 920.02 MnT in CY’18.
