China: Steel mills accept first round of met coke price hike

Steel mills in Hebei and Shandong provinces have accepted the proposed first round of price hike of RMB 200/t ($30/t). The proposal by coke producers was made as steel demand and profit margins improved recently. The hike has come after five rounds of price cuts in Jun-Jul’22 totalling to RMB 1,100/t ($162/t). Met coke prices in Tangshan stood at RMB 2,400/t ($356/t) on 10 Aug.
