China: Steel imports rise 18% m-o-m in Sept’21

China’s steel imports in Sept’21 rose to 1.26 mn t from 1.06 mn t in Aug’21, a m-o-m rise of 18.16%, according to recent data released by customs.
With steel production cuts deepening and rising domestic prices, mills remained active in importing billets.
However, imports saw a fall of 29% in Jan-Sep’21 at 10.72 mn t compared with 15.07 mn t in CPLY.
