- China’s steel imports fell by 25.9% y-o-y to 10.57 mnt in CY22 as against 14 mnt recorded in the previous year, as per data recently released by customs.
- Weak end-user demand, subdued finished steel sentiments, and the resurgence of Covid cases in the country continued to weigh on imports.
- In Dec’22, imports were largely stable m-o-m at 700,000 t compared to 750,000 t in Nov’22.
