China: Steel billets prices up by RMB 30/t ($5/t)

Steel billets prices in China’s Tangshan rose d-o-d by RMB 30/t ($5/t) on 2 Mar’22. Prices stood at RMB 4,630/t ($733/t), inclusive of 13% VAT. According to data maintained with SteelMint, China’s SHFE re-bar futures contract for May’22 delivery closed today at RMB 4,860/t ($769/t), an increase of RMB 23/t ($4/t), d-o-d. Meanwhile, global steel export prices have surged amidst the trade tensions. China reportedly turned active in finished steel (both longs and flats) exports, as per SteelMint reports.
