The output of crude stainless steel amongst China’s 30 major producers in H1 2021 was at 17.0681 mn t, up 3.72 mn t or 27.87% year-on-year, according to Chinese government data maintained with SteelMint. In comparison, the total output of crude stainless steel in Indonesia – all 300 series – in the first half of 2021 was 2.3395 mn t, up 1.2485 mn t or 114.43% y-o-y. The world’s largest stainless steel producer, China produced 30.14 mn t of crude stainless steel in 2020, up by 2.51% from 2019.
