Tangshan, China’s leading steelmaking city in Hebei Province, is set to tighten environmental restrictions on polluting sectors such as steel as well as coke and cement manufacturing after the ongoing Winter Olympics. These restrictions are likely to have a large impact on domestic coke demand and prices, as per market sources. Domestic coke prices in China have fallen by RMB 400/t ($63/t) after the CNY holidays.
