China: Pandemic control measures disrupt inflow of coal trucks from Mongolia

The number of trucks carrying coking coal from Mongolia into China decreased from an average of 91 per day in Jan’22 to 23 per day in Feb. Movement of coal-laden trucks was affected because of stricter measures taken at custom points to curb a fresh surge in pandemic cases. The number of trucks coming daily into China has fallen sharply since the pre-pandemic peak level of 2,233 trucks/day in CY’20.
