China: New shipbuilding orders drop over 40% in H1CY’22

Data from the China Shipbuilding Industry Association shows that the national shipbuilding completion volume was 18.5 million deadweight tons (dwt) in Jan-Jun’22, down 11.6% y-o-y. The number of new orders received was 22.46 million dwt, a decrease of 41.3% on the year but a significant increase of 107% m-o-m in June. In end-Jun, ship orders in hand totalled 102.74 million dwt, up 18.6% y-o-y.
