China’s state planner NDRC has granted permission for five coal mine projects this year with a total capacity of 24.4 mnt per annum, amounting to RMB 32.48 billion ($5 bn). This includes three capacity replacement projects that were approved by NDRC on 21 Feb’22 in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. The government will introduce higher proportion of advanced coal capacity to meet rising demand.
