Coke manufacturing plants in Hebei, Shandong and Inner-Mongolia have proposed the first round of price hike of RMB 200/t ($30/t). This proposal was made as steel demand and profit margins of mills have increased in China recently. It is to be noted that, met coke prices have fallen by a total of RMB 1,100/t in the last five rounds of price cuts. As on 5 Aug, Hebei’s Tangshan met coke prices stood at RMB 2,400/t ($356/t).
