China: Met coke output falls 10% y-o-y in Sep’21

China’s metallurgical (met) coke output was 37.18 million tonnes (mn t) in Sep’21, a y-o-y decrease of 9.6%, according to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). However, the country’s met coke output stood at 357.45 mn t during the Jan-Sep’21 period, a y-o-y increase of 1.3%. Tight domestic availability and reduced coking coal imports have triggered successive rounds of upticks for domestic met coke prices in China.
