Met Coke exports from China in Jan’18 shrank by around 0.22 MnT or 24.25% against the imports in the preceding month, shows an analysis on the latest import data released by China Customs.
In Jan’18, around 0.68 MnT of Met Coke was exported from China and that was lower than the exports of around 0.90 MnT in Dec’17.
The export volumes to the major countries, such as India and Japan, had dipped during the month under consideration. And the shrinkage had occurred due the imports in the major consuming nations adopting wait-and-watch stance in view of the then falling Coking Coal prices, the prime ingredient in Met Coke production.

India accounted for the largest share at 25% in the total export volume during the month; followed by Indonesia and Mexico at 16% and 15% respectively.
