China: Manganese Ore Imports Surge by 37% M-o-M in October

According to the Customs data, the import of manganese ore in October was about 2,859,100 tonnes, an increase of about 770,000 tonnes from the previous month, up 36.8% (in Sep’18 2.09 million tonnes was imported), and an increase of 1,373,600 tonnes or up 85.8% over the same period of last year (Oct’17 Manganese Ore imports recorded at 1,485,500 tonnes. From January to October, the total import volume was 22,087,600 tonnes, an increase of 26.5% Y-o-Y. During the same period last year (Jan-Oct) 17,464,200 tonnes of Manganese Ore was imported.

Specifically, imports from Australia was 528,800 tonnes in Oct’18, an increase of 15% from the previous month, up 122.75% over the same period last year (in October 2017, the ore import from Australia was 237,400 tonnes).

In Oct’18, Ore import from South Africa was 1,088,600 tonnes, a month-on-month increase of 29.3%, and a year-on-year increase of 69.4% (the import volume in the same period was 642,600 tonnes last year);

In Oct’18, Ore import from Gabon was 161,700 tonnes, up 119.1% from the previous month, down 9.8% from last year (the import volume was 179,200 tonnes in Oct’17);

In Oct’18, Ore import from Brazil was 180,000 tonnes, a decrease by 10.9% month-on-month, and up 237% year-on-year (the import volume was 53,400 tonnes in Oct’17);

In Oct’18, Ore import from Ghana was 532,300 tonnes, up 137.4% from the previous month and up 153.5% year-on-year (the import volume was 210,000 tonnes in Oct’17).
