As per customs data, China’s imports of manganese ore fell by 14.26% m-o-m to 2.25 mn t in Apr’21. Imported volumes from Brazil dropped significantly by 81.56% on month in Apr’21 due to production cuts by Brazilian miners and the low availability of containers. South Africa, Australia and Gabon were the leading exporters to China, data reveals. Low demand from Chinese smelters due to an uncertain market outlook was one of the reasons behind lower import volumes.
