China: Manganese ore imports drop by 5%, y-o-y, in CY’21

China’s manganese ore imports stood at 30.03 mn t in CY’21, down 5% y-o-y compared to 31.67 mn t in CY’20, Chinese Customs data shows. As a result of the government’s strict environmental regulations, China reduced the production of crude steel and thereby manganese alloys used in steel. This resulted in a decline in manganese ore imports.
