China: Iron ore spot prices fall on weak steel demand prospects

The spot price of iron ore in China fell on 26 May’22 as weak steel demand and poor margins continued to dampen the iron ore outlook. Benchmark Fe 62% fines prices decreased by $2.15/t to $131.25/t CFR China. With the rise in finished steel inventories at mills, market participants adopted a wait-and-watch stance on the seaborne market.
