China: Iron ore spot prices fall by $3/t amid low market liquidity

Iron ore fines (Fe62%) spot prices dipped by $2.85/t d-o-d to $93.30/t CFR-China on 3 Sep’24 amid liquidity squeeze and weak downstream demand ahead of the restocking season, despite a slight recovery in steel margins. Prices of high-grade ore may decline as procurement of medium-grade decreases, with low-grade fines anticipated to be the main feedstock for mills now.
