China: Iron ore spot prices end CY’24 with d-o-d decline

Iron ore fines (Fe 62%) spot prices dipped by $0.70/t d-o-d to $100/t CFR China on 31 Dec’24 due to subdued trading on the last day of CY’24. Reportedly, strong demand for low-grade fines limited miners’ scope for providing discounts. With mills’ restocking mostly complete, high-grade seaborne cargo demand remained weak, which shifted focus to port stockpiles and kept high-grade premiums under pressure.
