China: Iron ore spot prices continue to hit below $100/t level

Iron ore fines (Fe 62%) spot prices fell by $1.30/t d-o-d to $99.30/t CFR China on 8 Aug’24 amid bearish market sentiment. Chinese mills’ blast furnace maintenance shutdown amid poor steel demand and negative margins led to a drop in iron ore prices. Port inventories declined recently due to seasonal shipping factors, but are expected to increase as shipping volumes rebound.
